Political Islam’s and misogyny’s hands off the people of Libya!

The Chairperson of The National Transitional Council of Libya, Mustafa Abdul Jalil, in a celebration of the “liberation of Libya”, held on October 23rd, said Libya would take Sharia law as its basic source of legislation; laws that contradict the teachings of Islam would be revoked, and restrictions on the number of wives Libyan men could take would be lifted.

As we declared before, the people of Libya did not revolt against the dictatorship of Gadhafi to enslave themselves to the misogynous dictatorship of Political Islam! The recent statements from the Chairperson of the NTC reveal the reactionary nature of this institution more than ever, and emphasise that the people of Libya have to continue the revolution until they get rid of all reactionary forces and establish the direct ruling organs of all citizens based on secularism, freedom, and equality. Furthermore, the Western governments must be held accountable and attacked by public opinion for supporting the NTC. It seems as if one must remind them that Political Islam, whether “benign” or anti-Western, is a reactionary, misogynous, and anti-freedom movement.

The Worker-communist Party of Iran calls upon all freedom-loving people of the world to strongly condemn the scandalous statements of the chairperson of the NTC, all attempts for establishing an Islamic rule in Libya, and the concessionary position of the Western governments towards Political Islam; likewise to advocate the separation of religion from the state, unconditional equality between men and women, individual and civil liberties, and direct rule of all citizens in Libya.

دست اسلام سیاسی و زن ستیزی از زندگی مردم لیبی کوتاه!

روز یکشنبه ٢٣ اکتبر (دوم آبان ٩٠) "مصطفی عبدالجلیل" رئیس "شورای ملی انتقالی لیبی"، در مراسمی که بمناسبت "آزاد سازی لیبی" برپا شد،  اعلام کرد که "شریعه" مبنای قوانین لیبی  خواهد بود و هر قانون مخالف اسلام لغو میگردد. ایشان از جمله مثال آورد که قانون اسلامی "تعدد زوجات" را مجددا برقرار خواهد ساخت!

همانگونه که قبلا هم اعلام کردیم مردم لیبی علیه دیکتاتوری قذافی انقلاب نکردند تا گرفتار دیکتاتوری زن ستیز اسلام سیاسی شوند. اظهارات اخیر رئیس "شورای انتقالی لیبی" موجب رسوایی بیش از پیش ماهیت ارتجاعی این نهاد میگردد و تاکید دیگری است بر اینکه مردم لیبی باید انقلاب را تا رهایی از شر همه نیروهای ارتجاعی و  برقراری حاکمیت مستقیم همه شهروندان، مبتنی بر سکولاریسم و آزادی و برابری، ادامه دهند. همچنین دول غرب که حامی "شورای انتقالی" هستند اکنون باید بیش از پیش مورد بازخواست و تعرض افکار عمومی جهان قرار گیرند. گویا باید مجددا این نکته بدیهی را به یاد ایشان آورد که اسلام سیاسی خوب و بد ندارد. چه نوع "خوش خیم" و چه نوع غرب ستیز اسلام سیاسی جریانی ارتجاعی، ضد زن و ضد آزادی است.

حزب کمونیست کارگری مردم آزاده ایران و سراسر جهان را فرامیخواند تا اظهارات شرم آور رئیس "شورای ملی انتقالی" و تلاش برای برقراری حاکمیت اسلامی در لیبی و همچنین مماشات دول غربی با اسلام سیاسی را قاطعانه محکوم کنند و از جدایی کامل مذهب از دولت، برابری بی قید و شرط زن و مرد، برقراری همه آزادی های فردی و مدنی  و حاکمیت مستقیم و بلافصل همه شهروندان در لیبی حمایت کنند.

Long live International Women's Day!

The borderless struggle for the liberation of women

We are living in very special times. The future for millions of people may radically change. These days are magnificent, full of wonder, historic. Peoples’ uprisings in North Africa and the Middle East have brought great hope for fundamental change and a better future for millions of people throughout the region – change that can put an end to dictatorships, one after the other. These peoples’ uprisings are a consequence of widespread poverty, total lawlessness, brutal oppression and social injustice in daily life. Women have faced additional indignities such as sex discrimination, inequality and misogynistic laws. It is therefore no surprise that we see a massive presence of women amidst the ongoing struggles.

In Iran, women are fighting for their human rights side by side with men against the inhuman regime in Iran. In Egypt, women have been an active part of the revolution against poverty and for freedom. And thousands of women took part in the demonstrations in the Tunisian capital on 22 February 2011 and demanded equal rights. These are only a few examples of how women are a major revolutionary force in the ongoing developments which will have their effects on other countries.

Solidarity with the movement for women’s equality becomes increasingly important in light of these revolutions that spill across national borders. The Islamic regime’s overthrow in Iran will mean a great victory for women's rights in the country, and for the secular movement and women's liberation in the Middle East. It will thus be a major step toward the defeat of political Islam and its terrorist actions. Women's rights organizations around the world should stand against gender apartheid in Iran in the same way that they stood against the racial apartheid regime in South Africa.

This year's March 8 carries an important message: a demand to break off all diplomatic relations with dictatorships and misogynistic regimes! Condemn the regimes that are targeted by people’s struggle and expel them from the international community!

Break off diplomatic relations with dictatorships and misogynistic regimes!
Down with the misogynistic, Islamic regime in Iran!
